Emergency Care

Emergency Dental Care

Prompt relief for dental pain, broken teeth, and urgent problems. Being there for patients in pain is one of the things we are proudest of.

Dental emergencies do not wait for a convenient time. A sudden toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, or swelling can be painful and worrying. One of our greatest sources of pride is being accessible to patients who are in pain or have an urgent dental problem, something we have done for our Walnut Creek community since 1989.

If you are an established patient or new to us, call the office as early as you can. We will get you assessed quickly, work to relieve your pain, and stabilize the problem. Many urgent issues, such as a cracked tooth, a lost filling, or an infected tooth causing pain, can be treated right in our office.

For problems that need a specialist, such as certain surgical or complex cases, we will get you comfortable and coordinate prompt specialist care rather than leaving you to navigate it alone.

If you are experiencing severe swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, or significant facial trauma, treat it as a medical emergency and call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, an abscess or swelling, or bleeding that will not stop. When in doubt, call us and we will advise you.

I knocked out a tooth. What do I do?

Handle it by the crown, not the root, gently rinse it, and if you can, place it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Then call us immediately, because time matters for saving the tooth.

Can you see me today?

Call as early as you can and we will do our best to get you assessed and out of pain promptly. For severe swelling affecting breathing or major trauma, call 911.
